NAP consistency checker
Compare business name, address and phone records you supply. Find fields to review before correcting a citation. No login, live directory scan or ranking score.
Compare one location at a time
The prefilled records are fictional examples. Replace them with public business details you are authorized to check. Keep private home addresses and customer data out of this tool.
What a match means here
The tool compares your pasted records with your approved reference. It does not discover citations, fetch URLs, verify ownership, check phone delivery or decide which source is correct.
- Name and address: case, repeated whitespace, periods and commas are ignored. Unit numbers, words and abbreviations remain significant. “Road” and “Rd” can be the same place, but the checker leaves that decision to you.
- Phone: common visual separators and an optional leading plus are ignored. Digits and extensions must match. A local number and an international form are not automatically treated as equal.
- Hidden addresses: address checks are skipped and addresses are omitted from results and exports. Missing-address counts are not generated for that mode.
- URLs: only HTTP(S) syntax without embedded credentials is checked. The site, redirect destination, publisher acceptance and listing content are not inspected.
The sample produces one format-normalized match, one record with differences and one with a missing phone. Review and missing counts may overlap. They are not a weighted SEO score or a forecast of rankings.
CSV exports prefix cells that could be interpreted as spreadsheet formulas with an apostrophe. A plain-text reader may show that prefix. This avoids turning an imported source label or phone value into a formula.
Turn differences into a correction plan
- Confirm the reference belongs to this branch and reflects its current public details.
- Check each flagged source directly. A deliberate call-tracking number, old branch, duplicate record or hidden-address policy needs context.
- Record who controls the profile and use the publisher’s correction process. Do not create a new profile only to avoid recovering an existing one.
- Recheck the public record after the publisher processes the change. Keep the check date and unresolved exceptions in your own worksheet.
For discovery or submission work, compare citation tools and services. For ongoing synchronization, compare listing-management tools. The BrightLocal vs Whitespark guide separates discovery software, submission services and rank tracking.
Questions about NAP consistency
Does this scan Google, Yelp or other directories?
No. You supply the records. No Places API or directory-crawling service is connected.
Should every service-area business publish an address?
No. Google distinguishes service-area businesses from locations customers visit. Use hidden-address mode where it matches the approved public profile, and do not expose a private residential address for a comparison.
Will fixing a difference improve rankings?
This checker cannot establish a ranking effect. Accurate information helps customers identify the right business, while Google describes local ranking through relevance, distance and prominence.
The comparison and export run in your browser without this tool uploading listing fields or retaining them. The site’s normal analytics and advertising still apply. This is not a publisher compliance audit.
