Editorial Policy
This page explains how BestToolScan evaluates software pages, updates recommendations, handles affiliate links, and decides when a guide should be rewritten or removed.
Evaluation rules
- We prioritise workflow fit over raw feature counts.
- We look for hidden friction: seat pricing, credit limits, onboarding complexity, and reporting bottlenecks.
- We prefer guides with a clear buyer: freelancer, small business, agency, or local operator.
- When a page is too broad or too generic, we split it or rewrite it.
- When a page is off-topic for the domain, we remove it from the XML sitemap and mark it noindex.
How we update pages
- Refresh search intent and page structure.
- Check whether the tool category still exists and still matters.
- Add supporting internal links to the closest cluster.
- Rewrite titles and descriptions when CTR or intent mismatch is weak.
Affiliate disclosure in practice
- Some pages may contain affiliate links.
- Affiliate relationships do not guarantee a positive verdict.
- We try to say when a tool is too broad, too expensive, or too narrow.
- Pages are written to help shortlist tools, not to push every reader into the same product.
