Fast verdict and product status

Compare Semrush Local against a current Yext proposal, not an assumed legacy Places Scout plan. Yext announced its acquisition of Places Scout in February 2025, and the Places Scout public homepage now redirects to Yext. This does not prove every legacy account or feature has been discontinued. Ask which product, limits and contract are available to a new buyer.

We have not measured either product’s speed, usability or ranking accuracy. This comparison is based on public documentation checked 14 September 2026.

A like-for-like pilot

Use the same location, keywords, grid dimensions, dates and scan frequency. Keep raw exports and distinguish organic rankings from map visibility. Compare the report a client actually receives, not screenshots taken under different conditions. Our site has not performed this pilot.

Calculate your scan workload before asking about credits. Include separately scanned competitors and optional analysis.

When to choose neither

If you only need occasional profile updates, start with the free GBP interface. If your immediate problem is incorrect directory details, start with listings management. Buying visibility reports alone will not correct those records.

I run BestToolScan on my own. Every comparison here starts from the same question a buyer actually has: which job are you hiring this tool for, and where does it stop being worth the money. Recommendations come from vendor documentation, published pricing, feature scope and buyer workflow — the method is written out in full on How we test, including what is not tested hands-on.
